The Volvo 70 series yacht was first launched in 2005 for the Volvo ocean yacht race around the world in 2005/06 and this yacht competed under the name “Brunel”. Following the Volvo 05/06 yacht race the boat returned to Australia where she was designed and built and renamed “Ichi Ban”. Under the name Ichi Ban she completed in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race 5 times and scored a very respectful 2nd over the line in 2006 behind Wild Oats VI. In 2018 she was acquired by her current owners and renamed “Noahs” II. The yacht is constructed entirely of carbon fiber including the mast and a majority of the deck fittings which apart from making her extremely light but also very strong. Fully refitted between 2018/2019 with new standing rigging, new halyards, canting keel serviced in 2019, got new main sail, J2, J3, J4, A2 sails from Hood in 2018, the hull color, the whole deck and anti-skid floor of cockpit were renewed in 2018.

The Baltic 51 was a high performance, easily handled yacht with a functional deck layout which was equally suited for safe family cruising and fast IOR racing. This was the 5th serial production yacht in cooperation with C&C Design, and as with the previous Baltic 39 and Baltic 37, detailed comprehensive computer performance studies were used in the design evaluation. C&C Design´s chef designer Rob Ball and his team put in a lot of effort into the pre-studies for this design again resulting also in polars and performance numbers that could be used as targets for the racing owners.
