The ICE YACHTS Shipyard presents itself on the market with a brand new product, the ICE 60GC, cruiser version and even more easy sailing than the already very fast ICE 60, which winks at owners looking for an important boat suitable for fast cruises and above all super comfortable. The ICE 60GC, developed directly by Umberto Felci’s studio together with the shipyard’s technical staff, is a true fast cruiser of the highest quality with incredible use of space, with a beautiful line and HIGHLY INNOVATIVE INTERIORS that put guests in the foreground.
Derived from the powerful lines of the ICE 60 standard, with a mix of contents taken from our 62 ‘and 70’s, it manages to enhance the characteristics of robustness, seaworthiness and performance that distinguish the shipyard and which led to its success. Modern design, we are talking about reverse bow (scimitar) with dolphin made of carbon 1.3 meters long and stern in Volvo Open 70 style, it is the big brother and the natural development of the ICE 52, another Ice Yachts bestseller with over 15 units produced to date.
On the hydrodynamic level, the water lines and the appendages, this time characterized by an unprecedented draft of 2.90 meters, are designed to obtain great performance, with impressive results that highlight the ability of ICE 60 to climb the wind at corners very tight and gliding very fast at load speeds with the engine it reaches and exceeds 10 knots of cruising!!!
To guarantee these performances are added the high technologies used in the construction and the incredible quality of a craftsmanship of the highest quality performed by technicians who make use of the experience gained over many years of activity dedicated to the construction of boats that have written history of the sail. The shell and deck are infusion laminated from a female mold using carbon fibers; the carbon structures are also laminated on site and also made in infusion, becoming one with the hull and deck, eliminating creaks and noises. In addition to the classic gluing, the deck is tied to the hull as well as all the bulkheads, creating a monolithic and very rigid structure. These choices in addition to containing the weights give the boat a solidity and sturdiness able to withstand the repeated stresses and heavy loads that are faced even in the most demanding navigations.
ICE 60’ GC is equipped with a fin made of double Weldox steel with high mechanical characteristics and a numerically controlled milled lead torpedo that offer the advantage of reducing the weight of the ballast in percentage terms and therefore the total displacement of the boat with the same righting moment. Thanks also to the oversized bulb, it is possible to significantly reduce the heeling in navigation and the roll when stationary in the harbor. Hence, great power in the gaits in which this is essential and minimal displacement in the gaits in which this represents a brake, such as for example the carrying gaits and motor navigation. All this allows you to maintain very high averages in all conditions, whether in racing or cruising, sailing or motoring. The rudder is studied and designed with state-of-the-art technologies, allowing impressive control even when the boat is heeling or subjected to large aerodynamic loads, always keeping in mind the focus on safety, which is central to both design and construction. The deck reflects the general lines of the Felci Yacht Design projects, combining simplicity and style, elegance and efficiency, comfort and versatility.
The cockpit, characterized by large benches and comfortable paramare backrests, is decidedly oversized and allows maximum mobility to numerous crews and in the stern area there is a fabulous 3.4 meter wide sundeck ! At the stern there is a removable aft deck of about 120 x 120 cm equipped with two closing lids, one to cover a professional barbecue and a sink, the other to cover a stowage locker with access from above. With the doors closed, the bench is covered with cushions in water-repellent material. To facilitate access from the deck to the platform, there is a ladder fixed to the tailgate which closes at the same time as the tailgate is closed. The large garage, a record in the category and almost at the level of a 70-footer, is designed to contain an inflated 3.1 meter tender!! In the garage, two electric winches / winches are provided for opening the hatch and handling the tender, always with a view to the search for comfort and ease of use. In addition, there are many details that highlight how the study of the bridge was conducted in the search for a synthesis between an ideal deck for a relaxed cruising life and one full of seaworthiness and efficiency, necessary during a long-range navigation or regatta.
The maxi dodger or the bimini protecting the helmsman is beautiful, all goodies designed to underline the focus of the ICE 60GC, comfort! Examples of this research are the hydraulic fairleads in the bow and an electric mooring winch always in the bow. Following this same philosophy, the sail plan is characterized by a genoa without overlapping, by the absence of flying shrouds and by the plates, made of carbon, positioned directly on the hull. The ft length of the ICE 60GC is under 18 meters to allow access to the discounted rates that some marinas grant to boats of this size!! Thanks to the technologies used for the construction of the interiors, such as the use of lightened panels, a considerable weight saving is obtained compared to a traditional construction, without however renouncing the value of carpentry work, both in the refinement of finishes and in excellence. of the details. The interiors are provided in the 4-cabin version, with 3 bathrooms with a large open kitchen. The standard carbon rig is equipped with a very comfortable electrically operated mainsail roller in the boom, very useful to further simplify things both during navigation and when preparing to reduce or lower the sails.
The first example of ICE 60 Grand Comfort is currently under construction at the ICE YACHTS Shipyard in Salvirola, near Crema and the first boat, for a demanding owner, will be on the water in May.
